Welcome to Delta Innovation Class

Our jets fill up with some of the smartest people in the world. Leaders in technology, science, the arts and more.

But why should a flight just be a simple flight? Could these leaders use this time in the air to not just fly, but to share their knowledge with an up-and-coming professional in the seat next to them? We think so.

From this idea Delta Innovation Class was born.

It’s a mentoring program – that just so happens to take place at 35,000 feet.

We will be selecting leaders in innovation on their way to events around the globe for the program. They'll be sitting in the mentor seat. The seat next to them will be open. This is your chance to sit in that seat. We’ll fly you to the event, get you in to the event, and, most importantly, give you one-on-one access you might never otherwise get.

Delta Innovation Class-57th Annual GRAMMY Awards®
Application Terms

Who Can Apply: To apply to fly with one of the mentors (each, a "Mentor Flight") as part of the Delta Innovation Class Program ("Program"), you must be a legal resident of one of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and be 18 years of age or older. Employees of Delta Air Lines, Inc. ("Delta"), Wieden + Kennedy, Inc. ("Agency") and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and promotions and advertising agencies, and members of their immediate family (spouse and parent, children and siblings and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and persons living in the same household, whether or not related, of such employees, are not eligible to apply.

How to Apply: You can submit an application by visiting, selecting the Mentor Flight for which you wish to apply and following the directions to provide access to your LinkedIn profile which will serve as your application ("Application"). If you do not have a LinkedIn account, establishing one is free (terms of service apply). All Applications for a specific Mentor Flight must be received by 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time ("ET") on the date indicated on that Mentor Flight page or they will not be considered ("Application Closing Date") for that Mentor Flight. Any Application that includes content deemed to be unlawful, indecent, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, pornographic, offensive, indecent, libelous, invasive of another’s privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable or not in compliance with these Application Terms will not be considered. Applications generated by script, macro or other automated means or by any means that subvert the application process are void. Limit one (1) Application per person/LinkedIn Profile per Mentor Flight. Multiple Applications from any person/LinkedIn Profile will be void.

Selection and Notification Process: For each Mentor Flight, Delta will select, in its sole and absolute discretion, one (1) individual to participate in the Mentor Flight ("Mentee"). As part of the selection process, applicants may be contacted by Delta or its representatives and asked to provide additional materials, which may include, but are not limited to, a cover letter and resume (collectively, "Supplemental Application Materials"), within a time period specified by Delta ("Supplemental Application Materials Deadline") and/or to participate in a Skype interview with Delta representatives ("Application Interview"), which applicant agrees Delta shall have the right to record. Any Supplemental Materials must be provided to Delta within the time period specified and applicants must be available to participate in the Application Interview, if requested, on a date specified by Delta. Delta does not guarantee that a Mentee for each Mentor Flight will be selected through this Program. Potential Mentee, if any, will be notified within fifteen (15) days of Application Interview by telephone. Within three (3) days of date of notification, Mentee must (1) confirm in writing that he or she will be available to take Mentor Flight (as described below) on the dates specified by Sponsor, and (2) sign and return a Mentee Participation Agreement which will include a grant of rights from Mentee which is consistent with these Application Terms, a liability release, a publicity release, and other customary terms, or he/she will be disqualified and a runner-up may be selected. Delta reserves the right to conduct a background check of any and all public records relating to Mentee, including without limitation, civil and criminal court records and police reports. To the extent permitted by law, Mentee shall authorize this background check. In the event that Delta decides in its sole discretion to conduct a background check and Mentee refuses to agree to a background check, or Delta finds that Mentee has been convicted of a felony or if information discovered during the verification process is deemed to be potentially harmful to the image of Delta (as determined by Delta in its sole discretion), potential Mentee may be disqualified. Delta reserves the right (at its sole discretion) to disqualify any potential Mentee based on background check results.

Applicants and Mentee each must agree not to release any publicity or other materials on his/her own or through someone else regarding his/her participation in the Program without the prior consent of Delta, which it may withhold in its sole discretion. Return of any notification as undeliverable, failure to sign and return requested documentation within the specified time period, the inability of Delta to contact a potential Mentee within a reasonable time period or noncompliance with these Application Terms will result in disqualification and, at Delta’s sole discretion, a runner-up may be notified.

Mentor Flight: Mentee will receive two non-transferable tickets to the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards® and the GRAMMY Celebration After-Party in Los Angeles, CA (approximate retail value: $1,000) and two nights standard hotel accommodations (approximate retail value: $500) and have the opportunity to share a flight with the applicable Mentor. If, for whatever reason, the Mentor Flight cannot be provided, no compensation or substitution will be provided. Delta reserves the right to substitute a different Mentor in its sole and absolute discretion, for any reason. All Mentor Flight details are at Delta’s sole discretion. Event ticket is subject to terms and conditions specified by the issuer. Seat location at the event will be determined by Delta. Mentee agrees to comply with all event and venue rules and regulations. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of event ticket.

Delta shall have the right to film, photograph and/or otherwise record the interactions and conversation between the Mentor and Mentee ("Flight Footage") in order to create one or more "Innovation Class Videos" (plus an unlimited number of lifts, edits and versions thereof). The Flight Footage and the Innovation Class Video(s) will be owned by Delta. Mentee grants to Delta the right to reproduce, distribute, perform, create derivative works of, edit, alter, display, exhibit, combine with other materials, exploit and otherwise use any Flight Footage and/or Innovation Class Video(s), as well as the Application and Supplemental Application Materials submitted by Mentee and/or all elements embodied therein, including, without limitation, the name, likeness, voice, performance, biographical information of the Mentee, in any manner and in any and all media now known or hereafter devised throughout the Universe for any purpose whatsoever, including, without limitation, for commercial and other purposes, without compensation or notification to, or permission from, Mentee or any third party; provided that, in the event that the Innovation Class Video(s) are produced pursuant to any union or guild agreement to which Agency is a signatory, Mentee agrees to accept the minimum scale payments provided for in the applicable union or guild agreement, and to sign any standard union or guild agreements upon Delta’s request. Delta is not obligated to make use of any of the rights granted herein. Mentee is responsible for all applicable federal, state and local taxes as well as any costs and expenses associated acceptance and use of Mentor Flight package. All Mentor Flight package details are at Delta’s discretion.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: By participating, each applicant (a) represents and warrants that he/she has the right to apply for this Program and that none of the materials submitted in connection with this Program violate any third party’s personal or proprietary rights; (b) agrees to abide by these Application Terms and decisions of Delta, which shall be final and binding in all respects relating to this Program; and (c) agrees to release, discharge and hold harmless Delta, Agency, LinkedIn, and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies, and the respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents and representatives of the forgoing (collectively, "Released Parties") from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind to persons, including death, or property resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from applicant’s participation in the Program or any Program-related activity (including any travel/activity related thereto).
